Beverages that contain water can hydrate you.  If you can drink more volume of soda or tea more comfortably than plain water that can work better than plain water in some cases.  100% orange juice, pineapple juice and tomato juice as well as soy milk and milk has potassium in it, in some cases in greater concentrations than gatorade.  Soy milk and tomato juice often have sodium added also.  The proper water temperature to drink is the one that encourages you to drink more.  Too much or too little sodium can cause dehydration.  It is difficult for most people to accidentally have too much potassium eating or drinking normal foods and beverages without potassium supplements but having too much potassium is possible in some cases.  In the American diet people usually have too much sodium and not enough potassium but this is not always the case depending on individual factors and circumstances and it you eat a diet without processed foods with salt added to them in the manufacturing process you may need to add salt (sodium chloride) to your diet but usually the salt added to groceries in processing is sufficient for the typical American diet.
